Jacky Poteau

Program Coordinator for the Haiti Development Institute (HDI)

Jacky Poteau is Program Coordinator for the Haiti Development Institute (HDI), a newly-established organization issued from The Haiti Fund at the Boston Foundation. HDI works with leaders of community-based organizations in Haiti to enhance their capacity and to provide them with skills necessary to meaningfully contribute to the development of their own communities.  In this role, Mr. Poteau is involved in the conception and implementation of various components of HDI’s Capacity Building program; he also participates in periodic reviews of grant proposals from applicant organizations to HDI’s various initiatives. In addition, he oversees the conception and development of the Incubation component of the program.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Poteau served from 2006 to 2014 as President and Executive Director of FATEM (Foundation for the Technological and Economic Advancement of Mirebalais), a Boston-based nonprofit community organization assisting in Mirebalais (Haiti) in the areas of Education, Information and Communication Technology, and Economic Development. From 2009 to 2011, he was Executive Director of 1000 Jobs/Haiti, a Rhode Island-based 501(c)(3) organization operating in Haiti with the mission to create sustainable jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Plateau Central region.
Mr. Poteau has been lending his assistance throughout the Haitian Diaspora to various initiatives that are geared towards development in Haiti; as such, he has served on the board of several community organizations. He is currently the Associate Director of Operations for GRAHN-USA, the U.S.-based chapter of GRAHN-World (Group for Reflection and Action for a New Haiti).
Mr. Poteau holds a Master’s Degree in Health and Medical Informatics from Brandeis University, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University.
